Guam Energy Strategies
With support from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Guam is identifying pathways toward an affordable, technically sound, and resilient energy future.

Funded by the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Insular Affairs, Guam Energy Strategies represents a culmination of past, current, and upcoming efforts toward Guam's energy future.
Goals
The Guam Energy Strategies project assists Guam with meeting the technical and economic challenges of achieving its energy goals. Some of the complex questions Guam Energy Strategies seeks to answer include:
- What are the scenarios and costs to achieving Guam's energy targets?
- How can Guam assure that the power system is reliable during extreme weather events?
- What needs to be done to support an affordable energy system?
- What are options and costs to achieve Guam's Renewable Portfolio Standards legislation (P.L. 35-46) which requires 50% of electricity sales from renewable energy by 2035, and 100% by 2045?
Guam Energy Strategies is a comprehensive approach to answering these questions and identifying strategies for achieving affordable, technically sound, and resilient energy.
